Part III: Synthesis Paper
The purpose of this synthesis paper is to essentially provide an integrating reflection, organizing and sequencing all the aspects of my journey in the Higher Education Administration PhD degree program at Andrews University. It does not provide an absolute in-depth details of the journey, however, it describes the major components my journey, largely drawn from the other reflection papers, and critiques I submitted for several course assignments in the program. The synthesis paper is organized as follows (a) introduction, (b) worldview, (c) higher education focus, (d) research, and (e) my philosophy of education, and (f) summary. The summary provide a description of an overview and reflection of my entire journey.

Mordekai,
ReplyDeleteIn 2 or 3 other sections, you have included as supporting artifacts a few reflection papers. However, I did not find an overall 'synthesis paper'. This paper serves essentially as an integrating reflection paper organizing and sequencing all the aspects of your journey in your Higher Education Administration PhD degree program.
Thus, major components of this overall 'synthesis paper' might be copied from your other reflection papers, but than a brief overview and a succinct summary and reflection focusing on your entire journey (and the whole portfolio) could close your synthesis paper.
I believe, for the most part, that if you address my suggestions (provided as 'Comments' throughout your portfolio), this final 'synthesis paper' will not represent a great deal of additional work . . .
Mordekai:
ReplyDeleteYour synthesis follows Dr. Brand's advice and pulls together ideas from other papers in the rest of your experiences and classes and I perused them in other sections.
I guess I expected a shorter synthesis of just the major growth from your 15 years of working with the SED. But now we can ask that at your portfolio defense. I am found this portfolio very well done. Thanks for your thoroughness.
Mordokai,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for having submitted an extensive portfolio that gives a clear picture of your journey as an educational leader.
The most recent publication cited in the synthesis paper is dated 2005. Adding a few current works (no more than seven years old) would strengthen and refresh your document.
